13-year-old boy killed while waiting for school bus in a Florida truck wreck

A heartbreaking Florida truck wreck in Lake Wales claimed a teenager’s life on Friday, February 03, at about 6:15 AM on Dr. J.A. Wiltshire Avenue at Miami Street.
Lake Wales police report that Jadin Galindo, 13, was sitting in a paved alleyway, waiting for his school bus, when a 2013 GMC Sierra pickup truck hit him.
Police said it was dark and foggy, and there were no street lights in the area when the pickup truck entered the alleyway and tragically hit Galindo. A 47-year-old woman driving the pickup and her 33-year-old passenger from Bartow was not injured.
Friends said Galindo, an 8th grader at McLaughlin Middle School, loved to look after the animals in the school’s agricultural unit.
The authorities believe that speed or impairment played no part in the crash. The events leading up to the accident remain under investigation.
