Auburndale, FL (October 20, 2021) – A Polk County man lost his life after colliding with a police vehicle near Auburndale on Monday, October 18.
The fatal crash occurred on Interstate 4 WB near FL-559. A trooper from the Florida Highway Patrol was driving on the roadway when they entered the path of a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The two vehicles collided, and the rider was ejected.
The motorcyclist was then struck by an oncoming semi-truck. The 52-year-old Lakeland man was pronounced dead at the scene. The area was closed for several hours while emergency responders were present.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
