Brandon, FL (July 23, 2021) – On Thursday, July 22, a Valrico man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in the Brandon area. 

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a man driving a car was turning into a store at the 1208 block of Brandon Boulevard, also known as FL-60 when he hit a 36-year-old Valrico man on a scooter. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at around 10 p.m. that evening. The rider of the scooter, a 2020 Taotao Pony 50, was traveling east on the roadway when he made a left turn in front of the storefront. 

The man was hit by a 2013 Toyota Camry. The injured party suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the 22-year-old Valrico man driving the car nor his one-year-old passenger were injured in the impact. At this time, the identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed. No further updates on the deadly accident have been provided at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is being undertaken by local authorities, and more details will be released as it continues.
