Car accident in Walton County leaves one dead

Florida Highway Patrol reports a car accident in Walton County on Tuesday, February 28, resulting in the death of a man.

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 90 when a white Ram pickup truck turned left off Cottonwood Blvd. to travel east and got hit by an eastbound red Pontiac Firebird right in the rear. Troopers say that the white pickup truck was blind to the red Pontiac, which, witnesses say, was driving without headlights.

A man from DeFuniak Springs, 50, lost his life to severe injuries, while the driver of the white pickup truck, a Laurel Hill man, 52, escaped injury.

The crash is under investigation, and more details should come out soon.

Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family during this difficult time.
