Clearwater, FL (October 20, 2021) – A fire in Clearwater ended in the death of a local man on Monday, October 18.
The fatal incident occurred at a residence located at the 1200 block of Claire Drive. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at around 8:15 a.m. that morning. Emergency responders found a man inside the building.
The injured party was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital for treatment of critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead. The fire was reportedly caused by a lit cigarette in a trash can.
An ongoing accident investigation is underway.
