Motorcycle Accidents in Tampa FL
The rider of a motorcycle is more exposed to the hazards of the road, meaning that they are more likely to be seriously injured in the event of a crash. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 80% of reported motorcycle collisions end in death or injury, and riders are almost 27 times more likely to be killed in the event of a motor vehicle accident. Thousands of motorcyclists are killed annually in crashes across the United States.
Motorcyclists, even when they follow the necessary safety protocol, have little protection when colliding with a motor vehicle, meaning that the resulting injuries are almost certain to be more severe. Even the most common road hazards like potholes, ice, cracks, or slick roads are a much greater risk for riders than drivers, leaving motorcyclists at greater risk of being seriously injured. Florida motorcycle crashes can leave riders paralyzed, as amputees, or with other types of permanent disability, and victims of these accidents may be entitled to lost compensation.
