East Lake, FL (June 23, 2022) – Three bicycle riders were hurt following a traffic accident on Thursday morning, June 23, in the East Lake area. The crash was reported at the corner of East Lake Road and Trinity Boulevard.
Two riders were on a tandem bike while another was on a single bike. They were headed northbound in the designated bike lane. A 16-year-old motorist was traveling southbound when she was stopped at the intersection.
The driver made a left turn into the path of the cyclists, and all three crashed into the sedan. The New Port Richey teen driving the car was not hurt in the crash. All three riders were taken to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
