Fiery multi-vehicle crash in Miami-Dade injures one
Last updated Friday, February 17th, 2023
Several vehicles were engulfed in fire after a multi-vehicle crash in Miami-Dade on Palmetto Expressway just as traffic was starting to build on Tuesday, February 14 morning. One man had to be airlifted with severe but not life-threatening injuries in the accident that involved three vehicles. The crash occurred in the highway’s southbound lanes close to Interstate 75.
Florida Highway Patrol officials said a Subaru, a Ford Van, and a Dodge van were slowed down in traffic when a grey Mercedes SUV could not brake in time and crashed into the Subaru, causing the Subaru to catch fire. The fire quickly made its way to the Mercedes and one of the vans.
Fortunately, all the occupants of the burning vehicles managed to escape without serious injury. Fire Rescue officials reported that one unidentified person was airlifted to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Southbound lanes remained closed for about two hours while firefighters doused the flames.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the injured.
