Last updated Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023
In a Florida semi-truck crash on Wednesday, December 28, a woman was killed after her car crashed into a semi-truck on I-95, near the Old Kings Road North overpass.
According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the semi pulling a trailer slowed down anticipating traffic ahead, but the sedan just behind failed to slow down in time and slammed into the vehicle.
Troopers said the sedan was trapped under the semi as both vehicles headed north before coming to a halt in the center lane.
The 53-year-old Port Orange woman in the sedan died in the collision. The driver of the semi, a 36-year-old man from Miami, did not sustain any injuries.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing, and no statement has yet been released. The victim’s name has not been revealed.
Emergency helicopters were placed on standby just in case. According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s office, the crash shut down traffic on I-95 near Palm Coast Parkway for five hours,
We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
Drive safely to prevent a Florida semi-truck crash
Over 11 million semi-trucks haul heavy loads and potentially hazardous materials in the US. An accident involving a semi-truck and a passenger car is ten times more likely to result in a fatality than one involving just two passenger cars, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Safety always trumps regret.
