Florida bicycle accident ends in death

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Florida bicycle accident in St. Cloud that occurred when a bicycle rider attempted to cross the street on Wednesday, February 01. The bike rider was tragically pronounced dead after being hit by a car.
The official report states that just after 9 PM, an adult male in his 60s attempted to cross 13th Street between Brown Chapel Road and Old Canoe Creek Road on his bicycle when a car hit and killed him. The driver of the involved vehicle did not sustain any injuries and stayed at the scene to cooperate with investigators.
First responders shut down westbound traffic while the investigation was underway, and drivers were guided to alternate routes around the area, such as Neptune Road or 5th Street.
As the accident investigation is ongoing, more information will be released as it becomes available.
