Florida car crash ends in death

Sadly, yet another Florida car crash turned tragic. A Fort Pierce man lost his life following a collision between two vehicles on Friday, February 17 about 5:30 a.m.

The incident occurred near Okeechobee Road (Florida State Road 70) when a southbound SUV on Shinn Road failed to give right of way to a tractor-trailer in the outside lane.

The tractor-trailer swerved to the left to avoid a collision but slammed into the driver’s side, pushing the SUV to the middle of the road before settling in the grass median. The southbound SUV crashed into the trailer at the grass median before coming to a halt.

The SUV’s driver, a 58-year-old man from Fort Pierce, tragically died in the severe crash. The tractor-trailer’s driver, a 51 year old Miami man, was reportedly not injured.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances leading to the fatal crash and will share more information as it becomes available.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time of grief and sorrow.

Florida car crash due to negligence

Accidents, severe injuries, and even death are more likely to occur with larger trailers. Occupants of cars and SUVs are particularly vulnerable in trucking and tractor-trailer accidents. Several wrongful death lawsuits against truckers are filed annually due to the grave consequences of trucking accidents.

According to IIHS, in truck collisions involving passenger cars, 68% of deaths happened to occupants of passenger vehicles and 15% to drivers of trucks. The remaining 16% were pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists.

It is possible to file a claim for justice and compensation when you believe another driver was responsible for an accident that killed your loved one. Here are four factors for establishing the other driver’s negligence:

  • As a driver, they had a duty to exercise reasonable attention
  • In this regard, they failed
  • It was this failure that caused the accident to occur
  • The accident led to your loved one’s loss

Losing a loved one is a traumatic experience that radically changes a person’s life. The pain of grief becomes deeper when one realizes that another driver’s negligence may have led to their suffering.
