Florida motorcycle crash kills the motorcyclist
Last updated Monday, February 27th, 2023
Florida Highway Patrol reported a deadly Florida motorcycle crash on the evening of Friday, February 24.
It happened on Blanding Boulevard when a northbound SUV on SR 21 took the west lane to join 118th street and “failed to observe” an oncoming motorcycle from the opposite direction, leading to the unfortunate collision. The crash report states that the bike hit the right front side of the SUV, throwing the rider off his bike. Troopers noted that the motorcycle was “approaching at a high rate of speed.”
The motorcyclist, identified as a Jacksonville resident around 28 years old, died from his injuries. The SUV driver, a 42-year-old woman, also from Jacksonville, sustained severe injuries in the crash. Her passenger, a 14-year-old girl, escaped unhurt.
We offer our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends for their grief and sorrow. Our prayers are with the injured woman for a speedy and complete recovery.

Florida motorcycle crash goes bad
The risk of death or life-altering injuries in motorcycle accidents is drastically higher than in other road accidents. A lack of body structure and protection makes motorcycles one of the riskiest vehicles on the road.
The number of motorcycles is less than 1% of Florida’s registered vehicles, and only 3% of its vehicle miles traveled (VMT). However, they still cause significant traffic deaths, with nearly 17% of all crashes being motorcycle-related.
Families of motorcycle crash victims often face long-term consequences after these crashes. Losing a loved one is a devastating and life-changing blow. What’s even worse is learning that someone’s negligence caused their death.
