Florida road crash kills one, leaves two injured

Florida Highway Patrol officials report that a Florida road crash killed one man and critically injured two others in east Manatee County on January 12, Thursday afternoon.

The fatal collision occurred between two vans around 2 PM on County Road 675 East in the Myakka City area of Manatee County. Traffic investigators indicate that a van traveling north on CR 675 crossed the center line and crashed head-on into another van traveling south.

The 81-year-old driver of the southbound van was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 39-year-old man, was seriously injured due to the force of the impact. They both came from Arcadia.

The northbound van’s driver, a 45-year-old Bradenton man, suffered serious injuries as well. He and the injured passenger of the other van were both taken to a local hospital.

The deadly crash continues to be investigated, and more details should be available soon.

We extend our deepest condolences to the mourning family during this difficult time. We hope for the full and fast recovery of the injured driver.

Sadly, another Florida road crash causes death

The number of fatal accidents in Florida has been on the rise for years: in 2021, a total of 401,533 accidents were reported in Florida, which is about 1,100 accidents per day. To put it another way, approximately 449 people were injured every day in 2021 in traffic accidents in Florida.
