Hernando, FL (May 14, 2021) – A fatal crash involving a school bus in Hernando and another vehicle resulted in the death of a child on Thursday, May 13.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Citrus County school bus carrying 30 students was stopped at an intersection on E. VFW Lane at the time of the deadly accident. The bus reportedly had its red light on when it was rear-ended by another vehicle.
A child in the passenger car suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injured party was later pronounced dead by attending medical personnel. No other injuries were reported.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
