Deadly Pedestrian Accidents in Florida

Hudson, FL - St Pete Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash at US-19 & Sea Ranch DrAccording to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger car passengers to be killed in a vehicle collision. In the United States, a pedestrian was killed every 88 minutes on average in 2017.

In Florida, pedestrians are particularly susceptible. The state has a poor image as a hazardous location to walk about in. This is especially true in big cities. Pedestrians are killed or injured in car accidents at a rising rate each year, despite the fact that overall mortality rates are down. There isn’t much that can be done to protect pedestrians from the full impact of a crash. As a result, pedestrians are more exposed.
