Pedestrian Crashes in Florida
In the United States, a pedestrian was killed by a car nearly every 88 minutes in 2017. That year, 5,977 pedestrians were killed on American streets. In the event of a collision, pedestrians in Florida are especially vulnerable to serious injuries. With 708 pedestrian deaths reported in 2019, Florida was the state with the second-highest number of pedestrian deaths in the country.
Any time a pedestrian accident takes place, the person on foot is going to suffer much more severe injuries. It is true that pedestrians are responsible for looking out for roadway hazards, but drivers also have a duty to avoid causing injury when behind the wheel of a car. In most cases, drivers fail to look out for those traveling on foot as they should. Injured pedestrians should consult with a Largo pedestrian injury lawyer immediately to protect their legal rights.
