Lealman, FL (August 23, 2021) – On Monday, August 23, a wrong-way collision in the Lealman area ended in the death of an unborn child and several other injuries.
According to local reports, the accident occurred early that morning at around 5:30 a.m. The scene was located near the intersection of 54th Ave N. and 43rd Street N. A 46-year-old St. Petersburg man was reportedly traveling east in the westbound lanes when he collided with another vehicle.
Both vehicles spun out before coming to a stop. The St. Petersburg woman driving the other vehicle and her male passenger sustained serious injuries in the crash. Her unborn child, however, was reportedly killed in the accident. The other driver was also injured and hospitalized for treatment.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
