Bicycle Crashes in Florida
It doesn’t get much better for cyclists who enjoy riding outside than bicycling in Florida. It’s the ideal location for cycling for transit or enjoyment because of the wonderful weather and gorgeous surroundings. Sadly, it also has one of the highest per-capita rates of bicycle deaths in the nation, with 9,356 collisions involving bicycles in 2018, accounting for 720 fatalities and 1,543 incapacitating injuries.
When a car and a bicycle are involved in a collision, the cyclist is much more likely to sustain serious injuries. Accidents involving bicycles frequently end in fatalities, particularly when the automobile that caused the collision was traveling at a high rate of speed or when the cyclist was not wearing a helmet.
Traumatic brain injuries are among the most serious kinds of injuries that can be sustained in a bicycle collision. Unfortuitously, catastrophic brain injuries can leave wounded riders with problems that persist throughout their lives. When a bicycle collides with the ground, a car, or another object, the manner in which the collision occurs might make the apparent severity of the impact irrelevant to the severity of the injuries that ensue.
