Pedestrian Accidents in Florida

New Port Richey, FL - Woman Hit, Trapped under Armored Car on FL-52Between the years 2010 and 2019, there were over 6,000 pedestrians who were killed in vehicle accidents in the state of Florida. Since 2019, there has been a consistent rise in the number of pedestrian accidents. Florida has a big elderly citizen population. There are probably connections between the high number of elderly people living in Florida and the high number of occurrences of pedestrian accidents in that state. Walking is the preferred mode of transportation for those of senior age. And the likelihood of being involved in an automobile accident increases with age among Florida’s senior population.

Accidents involving cars in Florida may cause many different types of injuries to pedestrians. Accidents like this may take place when a pedestrian unexpectedly steps into traffic, giving the vehicle little time to come to a complete stop. Accidents like this often take place at junctions, either because automobiles fail to yield to pedestrians or because pedestrians cross the street when they do not have the right of way.

Accidents involving pedestrians may also occur when a driver’s view is impeded for another reason, such as while they are passing another car. And unfortunately, they take place in parking lots all too often when a driver backs up their car without first checking to see whether there is a pedestrian approaching from behind.

After a pedestrian collision, if the driver was at fault for your injuries, you may be able to receive the money you need to get back on your feet.
