Ocala semi-truck accident ends in death

A fatal Ocala semi-truck accident on Wednesday, February 22 around North Pine Avenue along Northwest 20th Street left one woman dead.

According to Ocala Police Department, the crash happened around 4 PM when a northbound semi-truck approached the intersection as a car traveling from the west side turned south into US 441. A witness said the semi started honking rather loudly and accelerated toward the red light.

At almost that exact moment, the car entered the northbound lane, right into the path of the semi, which desperately swerved to the left to avoid hitting it. Sadly, the front of the truck crashed into the driver’s side of the car. The wreck pushed the vehicle off the road and into a median.

The driver of the car, a woman, was rushed to a local hospital, but sadly, she died from her injuries.

Traffic slowed down for an extended period of time due to the accident. Ocala Police is investigating and will release more info as soon as it becomes available.

We send our condolences to the victim’s loved ones for their tragic loss.
