Older man killed, teen injured in Wellington car crash

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reports a violent Wellington car crash on Thursday, March 9, leaving one dead and another injured.

The fiery accident occurred at about 1:00 PM as a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee on Greenview Shores Boulevard made a left turn when an M series BMW roaring at a “high speed” rammed into it. Because of the crash’s impact, the Jeep spun counterclockwise before overturning. 

Within seconds of the crash, a fire broke out in the overturned jeep, and the driver tragically died. Eventually, he was identified as Aristides Guerra, 71, from Wellington. The BMW’s driver, a teen of 17, suffered minor injuries and went to the Wellington Regional Medical Center for medical help.

A friend of the teen, Zachary Zigander, also 17, saw the crash a few minutes later and helped him out. He also went to the hospital with minor injuries. 

An eyewitness said, ” There was a lot of confusion, and first responders blocked off the whole area. According to him, there’s an accident almost every other day at Wellington Trace and Greenview Shores.

A detailed investigation into the awful crash is underway, and we expect to learn more about it soon.
