Osceola County crash leaves one dead, one injured

There’s a crash investigation going on in an Osceola County crash that killed one person and injured another on Wednesday, March 15, at the intersection of Osceola Polk Line and Old Lake Wilson road in Davenport.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the accident happened when a northbound Ford F-150 on Old Lake Wilson Road turned left to enter Osceola Polk Line Road but ended up right in front of a semi-truck with a trailer heading east. As a result, the semi failed to stop in time and crashed into the left side of the Ford.

The Ford’s driver, who remains unidentified, died at the scene, and the lone passenger suffered severe injuries. The truck driver, a 31-year-old man from Hialeah, stayed at the accident site and wasn’t hurt.

An investigation has begun into the cause of the fatal crash, and more details will follow soon.

We extend our deepest condolences to the departed’s family and friends. Our wishes are with the injured for a speedy recovery.

Osceola County crash at the intersection

Reports from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimate that 36% of all automobile crashes occur at intersections. The most common cause of these accidents is a collision between two vehicles. In moving traffic, paying attention to the road isn’t just your responsibility, but also the other involved drivers who need to pay attention to the other drivers to avoid a crash.

NHTSA refers to intersection collisions as “illegal maneuvers” or “distractions” that typically lead to personal injury or death. Most of these accidents happen due to distracted drivers for reasons that may vary for different reasons. The leading cause of driver negligence at an intersection is failing to anticipate traffic – resulting in countless injuries and deaths.
