Parrish, FL (October 8, 2021) – On Wednesday, October 7, an accident involving two motorcycles resulted in the injury of a 72-year-old rider in Parrish.

Local sources revealed that a 72-year-old Ellenton man was headed east on FL-62 near US-301 at the time of the crash. Another motorcyclist was traveling ahead of him. As the rider began to slow down, the two motorcycles collided.

The Ellenton man’s bike overturned, and he fell to the ground. He was transported to Blake Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries. The 58-year-old Bradenton man riding the other motorcycle was not injured.

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Florida Motorcycle Crashes

Parrish, FL - Motorcycle Crash with Critical Injuries on FL-62In Florida, there were 600 motorcycle deaths in 2016, with 409 of them involving another vehicle. Motorcycle riders are 27 times more likely than passengers in passenger cars to die in an accident, with more than 80% of motorcycle accidents terminating in death or disability. Wearing a helmet reduces the chance of fatality by roughly 37%, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Even if they follow all safety rules, motorcycle riders have inadequate protection when colliding with a car, which means that the injuries that result are virtually always more serious. Even the most common road hazards, such as potholes, ice, cracks, and slick roads, pose a significantly larger risk to motorcycles than they do to cars, putting them at a higher risk of catastrophic injury.

Motorcycle accidents in Florida can leave riders paraplegic, crippled, or with other life-altering injuries, and victims may be eligible for compensation. A professional personal injury attorney in Parrish can assist accident victims in recovering and rebuilding their lives after being hurt by another driver’s reckless behavior.
