Florida Pedestrian Accidents
Unfortunately, pedestrian collisions in Florida are common. The Sunshine State is well known for its year-round warm climate, beaches, and theme parks. Millions of people are drawn here each year to enjoy everything the wonderful state of Florida has to offer. However, the number of auto accidents increases with the number of people. Florida’s pedestrian danger index is one of the highest in the United States, according to recent information provided by Smart Growth America.
States and metropolitan areas throughout the United States were ranked on how deadly it is for people to travel on foot or by bicycle rather than inside a vehicle. This information was based on how many people were fatally struck by vehicles in the area. Florida ranks number one out of the twenty states that were examined. In 2019, from January to June, approximately 400 individuals lost their lives due to Florida pedestrian collisions, a percentage of them cyclists. These statistics prove that Florida is one of the most dangerous states for pedestrian/bicycle travel.
