Pine Ridge, FL (May 25, 2021) – A deputy with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office was cited in connection with an injury crash in the Pine Ridge area on Monday, May 24.
The collision occurred at the corner of N. Forest Ridge Boulevard and W. Sunbird Path at around 3 p.m. that afternoon. A 36-year-old deputy was operating a CCSO vehicle when she failed to stop to avoid colliding with a vehicle ahead of her. Her marked patrol vehicle consequently rear-ended a black Hyundai Sonata.
Two occupants of the Hyundai, a 54-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl, sustained injuries in the crash. No further updates on their conditions have been provided at this time. The deputy was cited for careless driving.
An ongoing investigation into the collision is in progress.
