Deadly Pedestrian Crashes in Florida
Pedestrians killed or injured in vehicle accidents are increasing year after year, despite decreased overall mortality rates. In 2017, a pedestrian was murdered every 88 minutes on average in the United States. Pedestrians are particularly vulnerable in Florida. The state has a bad reputation for being a dangerous place to visit. It’s difficult to protect someone walking from the full force of a collision. Pedestrians are thus more prone to suffer major injuries as a result of this. Pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger car occupants to be killed in a vehicle collision, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
