Sarasota, FL (May 18, 2021) – A head-on crash in Sarasota resulted in two fatalities and other injuries on Sunday, May 16.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the deadly accident occurred on Moccasin Wallow Road near Carter Road at around 3:45 p.m. Initial reports indicated that a Chevrolet Camaro traveling west on the two-lane roadway attempted to pass a westbound Honda SUV. At the same time, a Toyota sedan was traveling eastbound.
The Toyota was forced to veer off the road in order to avoid crashing into the Camaro. When the driver of the Toyota re-entered the roadway, they over-corrected and collided head-on with the Honda. The 50-year-old Parrish woman driving the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 52-year-old male passenger sustained serious injuries.
The 65-year-old Sun City man driving the Honda was in critical condition, and his 95-year-old passenger was killed on impact.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly accident is underway.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
