Motorcycle Crashes in Florida
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 281,340 reported traffic incidents in Florida in 2012. A total of 9,384 of those crashes involved motorcycles. Tragically, 425 motorcycle riders lost their lives in these collisions, and 7,809 additional motorcyclists suffered injuries.
Riding a motorcycle is a pleasant and effective form of transportation that can be utilized for both leisurely rides as well as trips to and from the office. On the other hand, motorcyclists are put in a more risky situation than vehicle drivers in the event of a collision. They are less protected than auto drivers, and this has contributed to a heightened fatality rate for motorcycle crashes.
