St Petersburg, FL – Update: Marcelo Benedicto Killed in Hit-&-Run on 5th Ave

St Petersburg, FL (November 11, 2021) – Authorities have released the identity of a man who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in St. Petersburg on Sunday night, November 7. The deadly pedestrian crash occurred on 5th Avenue N. at around 7:15 p.m.
Local sources revealed that 79-year-old Marcelo Benedicto, a Navy veteran, was crossing the roadway in a wheelchair at the time of the crash. Benedicto was reportedly struck by a white motor vehicle. The driver proceeded to flee the scene.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was later pronounced deceased. Local authorities are currently seeking information regarding the identity of the driver involved in the deadly accident.
An ongoing crash investigation is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
