St Petersburg, FL (May 16, 2022) – A 56-year-old woman suffered critical injuries after being hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in St. Petersburg on Saturday afternoon, May 14. The accident was reported on 22nd Avenue S. at around 2 p.m.
The injured party was riding on the Pinellas bike trail as a Nissan Rogue was headed eastbound on the roadway. She was hit by the driver when she entered the street. The crash victim was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for the treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
