Tampa, FL (June 13, 2021) – A Seffner man was arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run accident in the Tampa area on Sunday, June 13.
The crash was reported early that morning at around 5 a.m. on the Selmon Expressway. Local reports indicated that 26-year-old Miguel Matias Usher of Seffner was traveling east on the roadway at the time of the fatal crash. Usher reportedly changed lanes and collided with the rear of another vehicle.
Both vehicles rotated and came to a stop on the highway shoulder. Local sources confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle was killed on impact. The deceased party’s passenger, a 33-year-old woman, suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Usher reportedly sustained lacerations to his forehead and fled the scene on foot. He later turned himself in to authorities and was charged with leaving the site of a fatal accident and leaving the site of a major bodily harm accident.
Local law enforcement personnel are in charge of the ongoing accident investigation.
