Deadly Pedestrian Crashes in Florida
In the United States, a pedestrian was killed every 88 minutes on average in 2017. In Florida, pedestrians are particularly susceptible. The state has a poor image as a hazardous place to visit. This is especially true in big cities. Pedestrians are killed or injured in car accidents at a rising rate each year, despite the fact that overall mortality rates are down.
There is nothing that can be done to protect pedestrians from the full impact of a collision. As a result, walkers are more likely to sustain catastrophic injuries. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger car passengers to be killed in a vehicle collision.
