Motorcycle Accidents in Tampa FL
By design, motorcycles leave riders exposed to the dangers of the road, meaning that they are more likely to suffer life-changing injuries in a collision. There were 600 motorcycle fatalities reported in Florida in 2016, and 409 of these deadly crashes involved another vehicle. Riding with a helmet can reduce the chance of fatality by nearly 37%, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Motorcyclists, even when they follow the necessary safety protocol, have little protection when colliding with a motor vehicle, meaning that the resulting injuries are almost certain to be more severe. Even the most common road hazards like potholes, ice, cracks, or slick roads are a much greater risk for riders than drivers, leaving motorcyclists at greater risk of being seriously injured. Florida motorcycle crashes can leave riders paralyzed, as amputees, or with other types of permanent disability, and victims of these accidents may be entitled to lost compensation.
