Tampa, FL (August 24, 2021) – A woman and her grandson were killed after being hit by another driver in the Tampa area on Monday, August 23.
The deadly crash took place at the crossing of US-27 and Cypress Gardens Boulevard. Local authorities were sent to the scene at around 6:30 p.m. that night. Local reports revealed that a woman driving a 2020 Jeep Renegade ran a red light at the intersection. The vehicle collided with the side of a 2008 Honda Civic making a left turn.
The 45-year-old Auburndale woman driving the Honda and her 13-year-old grandson were pronounced dead at the scene. The 44-year-old Lake Wales woman driving the Jeep and her daughter were injured in the impact. No charges have been filed. No further updates have been released at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress. Additional information will be released as it continues.
