Tampa, FL (May 21, 2021) – A 15-year-old girl was killed in a car crash involving a drunk driver in Tampa on Thursday morning, May 20.
The fatal accident occurred on Gandy Bridge at around 4 a.m. Local reports revealed that the 20-year-old driver of a 2008 silver Infiniti Q35 had run out of gas and pulled over onto the side of the roadway. The driver and his two passengers, a 15-year-old and 17-year-old girl, then exited the vehicle.
It was at this time that a 2021 Honda Accord crashed into the group of pedestrians. The 15-year-old girl suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and 17-year-old were both hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries.
The other driver, 28-year-old Sebastian Gutierrez, remained at the scene, and authorities reported that he showed signs of impairment. Gutierrez was charged with DUI manslaughter and taken into custody.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly accident is underway.
