Teen killed, three injured in a Naples car crash

Florida Highway Patrol has reported a fatal Naples car crash that took the life of a 13-year-old boy and injured three others Friday, March 17, in Collier County.
It happened when a northbound sedan tried to turn left onto Golden Gate Parkway and came in front of a pickup van, causing the truck’s head to smash into the sedan. The savage impact knocked the sedan over, ending up at the intersection. Police believe the sedan failed to yield at the time of the accident.
The sedan driver, a 17 year old girl, and all three passengers – two 13 year old boys and one 10 year old boy – were injured and went to the North Collier Regional Hospital. One of the 13-year-olds was confirmed dead later. When the crash occurred, they were all wearing seatbelts. There were minor injuries to the 31-year-old truck driver and his 3 year old passenger.
A crash investigation is underway, and details will be out shortly.
