Florida Fatal Pedestrian Crashes
It is difficult to protect pedestrians from the entire brunt of a crash. As a result, walkers are at a higher risk of serious injury. Pedestrians are 1.5 times as likely as passenger car occupants to be killed in a vehicle collision, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Pedestrians were murdered every 88 minutes on average in the United States in 2017. Pedestrians are especially vulnerable in the state of Florida. The state has a bad reputation for being a dangerous destination. In large cities, this is especially true. Pedestrians are killed or wounded in vehicle accidents at an increasing rate every year, despite general mortality rates declining.
