Two injured after a septic truck accident in Florida on I-95

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that two people were injured in a truck accident in Florida on I-95 in Brevard County on Wednesday, January 4.

The mishap apparently occurred at 10.06 AM when a northbound sedan tried to switch lanes and ended up smashing into a septic truck near mile marker 208 on the highway.

As a result of the impact, the truck drifted off the road, crashed into the guardrail, and overturned. Both the truck driver and a passenger were ejected from the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries. They were rushed to a local hospital where they are in stable condition.

The sedan’s driver, a 59 year old woman from Titusville, escaped unscathed.

As if the unfortunate crash wasn’t bad enough, a third vehicle – driven by a 20 year old St. Augustine woman – plunged into the crash debris! Thankfully, she was not hurt, nor was any trooper there.

Both the women drivers stayed at the accident scene. The accident forced a temporary closure of the southbound lanes of I-95 for several hours.

In-depth investigations are currently underway, and more details will be revealed as they become available.

We pray for the injured and wish them a speedy and complete recovery.

A pointless truck accident in Florida

As a rule of thumb, every driving manual states the same – see a truck, stay far away. The fact that trucks are about 20 to 30 times heavier than the average passenger car makes truck accidents much more dangerous and violent than typical car crashes.

In the United States, over 11 million trucks move heavy loads and a variety of hazardous materials. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration cautions that accidents involving trucks and passenger cars are ten times more likely to result in death than accidents involving two or more cars.
