Unborn fetus and 3 others killed in a head-on crash in Florida

Florida Highway Patrol reported a devastating head-on crash in Florida on Sunday, January 29 about 1 AM. The terrifying crash occurred on U.S. 27 and County Road 773 in Glades County when a wrong-way Lexus SUV crashed into a Jeep Compass.

According to troopers, the northbound Lexus was traveling the wrong way in the south lane and crashed head-on into a southbound Jeep, causing the Jeep to overturn and burst into flames. Both the occupants of the Jeep, the driver and a pregnant passenger, were killed in an instant from the collision’s violent impact. The crash also killed a 28-year-old woman passenger of the Lexus.

The 37-year-old driver of the Lexus was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

At this time, no names and ages have been released about the Jeep’s deceased driver and passenger.

There was a long delay in reopening the expressway after the accident. A preliminary investigation of the deadly crash is underway, and charges should be filed soon.

Our deepest condolences go out to all the grieving families in this time of unbearable grief. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

An unimaginable head-on crash in Florida

In the U.S., nine out of ten traffic accidents occur because of negligence on the part of the driver. In many cases, the negligence of a single distracted driver can ultimately end in multiple fatalities in a car accident

Florida’s road accident rate has been rising for years: As of July 2022, a total of 194,632 accidents were reported in Florida, or more than 1,000 accidents each day. The state is therefore ranked as one of the most dangerous for drivers.

Florida also has one of the highest rates of road fatalities per 100 million miles traveled among all states in the country –  1.60 deaths per 100 million miles logged.
