US 1 hit and run kills pedestrian
Last updated Wednesday, March 15th, 2023
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a US 1 hit and run accident that killed a pedestrian on Saturday, March 12, near International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County.
The vehicle driver drove away after the accident, abandoning the victim to his fate. The pedestrian, a man of about 75, tragically died at the scene.
There isn’t much information on the incident yet. Troopers are not entirely sure of the crash’s time, but they believe it may have occurred between 6 PM Saturday and 9 AM Sunday. The vehicle’s make and model are unknown, but investigators reckon it probably has front-end damage.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the victim’s family.

US 1 hit and run ends in tragedy
Traffic accidents put pedestrians at higher risk of severe injuries or death simply because they cannot protect themselves against vehicle impact. Accidents involving pedestrians happen way too often in Florida. For pedestrian deaths in 2021, Florida had the second-highest number per capita and the second-highest total across the country. It’s a big problem as Florida repeatedly ranks high for pedestrian dangers.
Losing a loved one is difficult. For surviving family members, facing the loss of a loved one is deeply painful and emotionally draining. Besides all the sorrow and anguish of a tragic loss, the family typically has to spend tens of thousands of dollars on medical bills and funeral costs.
You’ve got to move forward despite all the pain and grief. It’s your right to claim justice and compensation for your loss when someone you care about dies in a Florida pedestrian hit-and-run crash.
