Whitfield, FL (November 14, 2022) – On Sunday, November 13, a Palmetto woman was killed following a car crash involving an alleged drunk driver in the Whitfield area.
The deadly accident occurred at the intersection of US-41 and Braden Avenue near the Bradenton International Airport at around 2:35 a.m. Two Palmetto men were riding in a pickup truck when the vehicle was T-boned by another pickup. The first truck continued onto the shoulder and crashed into a utility pole.
The 39-year-old passenger was hospitalized and later succumbed to his injuries. The 35-year-old driver was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. The driver of the second truck, 41-year-old Fernando Buenavista-Gomez, was arrested for driving under the influence.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in progress.
