Florida Fatal Pedestrian Accidents
Because there is little that can be done to shield pedestrians from the entire impact of a collision, they are particularly vulnerable. In 2017, a pedestrian was murdered every 88 minutes on average in the United States. Pedestrians in Florida are especially vulnerable, as the state has a reputation for being a dangerous place for pedestrians, particularly in major cities.
Pedestrians are killed or wounded in vehicle accidents at an increasing rate each year, despite the fact that the total number of fatalities is decreasing. Pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger car occupants to be killed in a vehicle collision, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
