Worker killed in an Orlando truck accident

Florida Highway Patrol reports that an Orlando truck accident in Orange County early Thursday, March 9, killed a construction worker.

The accident occurred about 12:30 AM on State Road 429, near the exit ramp to West Road, which was closed for maintenance, when a Kenworth truck backed up to release materials onto the road and missed a worker walking in the middle. As a result, the vehicle knocked down the worker, who went to the nearest hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The unfortunate victim turned out to be a 22 year old man from Sanford. The truck driver, a 62-year-old Apopka man, was not hurt and remained at the scene after the crash.

Other details are not available. Troopers are investigating the wreck and expect to release a report soon.

Our deepest condolences go out to the deceased man’s family.

Negligence caused this Orlando truck accident

Driver negligence causes severe property damage and even deaths in truck accidents. Getting distracted can make it impossible to spot a pedestrian while backing up. Pedestrians are the most vulnerable road users as they are practically defenseless.

More than 7,000 pedestrians are killed in motor vehicle accidents annually in the United States, which accounts for about 17% of all traffic fatalities. The risk of critical injuries or even death increases dramatically for pedestrians in truck accidents. Consequently, truck drivers and their companies get sued for wrongful death frequently.

Family members of truck accident victims have to seek justice using different approaches than those of car accident victims. Our Florida truck accident lawyers shall explain fundamental liability concerns, such as employer liability, before exploring compensation options with your family
