Young woman killed in a Tampa sedan crash on I-75

Florida Highway Patrol has reported a Tampa sedan crash early Sunday, March 19, that killed one person and injured another near Sun City Center, Hillsborough County.

The deadly collision happened when a northbound sedan stalled in the outside lane of I-75 near milepost 244. Unfortunately, another sedan behind it failed to stop fast enough and smashed right into the stopped vehicle. Both cars suffered a lot of damage and ended up along the curb.

The stalled sedan’s driver, a 25 year old woman from Tampa, died at the scene. Troopers say she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when she crashed. The other sedan’s driver, a 20-year-old Tampa woman, was severely injured and rushed to a hospital.

The cause of the fatal crash is under investigation, and more details will follow.

Our deepest condolences go out to the departed’s family and friends. We hope the injured recover quickly.

Distraction may have caused this deadly Tampa sedan crash

Reports from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) say two-vehicle collisions are the most common cause of road accidents. A stopped vehicle on the outside lane requires driver attention to avoid a collision. However, not all drivers have the experience to anticipate this, so it sometimes ends badly.

The risk of a motor vehicle crash increases when a driver is distracted. Distractions include everything that causes a driver to lose focus while driving. Texting, talking on the phone, using a navigation system, and eating while driving are all examples of distracted driving.

Losing a loved one in a car accident can change everything for a family. Emotional and psychological trauma can adversely affect a person’s quality of life. Medical bills may mount quickly due to the severity of your loved one’s injuries. A victim may suffer complications such as loss of mobility, infection, blood clots, muscle contractures, and “phantom limb pain.” Some examples of non-economic damages include pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of consortium, and mental trauma.

A Tampa car accident lawyer can help you get compensation to cover any losses incurred due to the accident, such as medical expenses, lost wages, and car repairs. Rebein Law’s experienced lawyers can help you get justice and recover deserved compensation when a loved one has died.

According to a recent survey, having a lawyer on your side makes a big difference: 74% of respondents who had a car accident lawyer by their side received at least some compensation in their car accident claim, compared to 54% of those who handled their claim themselves.
