Zephyrhills, FL – Driver Runs Red Light in Deadly Crash at FL-60 & US-301

Zephyrhills, FL (January 9, 2022) – A man was arrested following a deadly traffic accident in Zephyrhills on Sunday morning, January 9. The fatal crash took place at the intersection of FL-60 and US-301.

Local reports revealed that 39-year-old Michael Sean Jones was headed east in a pickup truck on FL-60 as another pickup was headed northbound. Jones failed to stop for a red light and collided with the other pickup. The crash caused Jones’ vehicle to collide with an SUV and a sedan that were waiting at the light.

The other pickup hit a utility pole. The 44-year-old driver of the vehicle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV and sedan and another passenger were also injured.

An investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is underway.
