Zephyrhills, FL (July 18, 2022) – A fatal pedestrian accident happened in Zephyrhills on Tuesday, July 12. A 24-year-old male resident lost his life when he was struck by a vehicle, according to information from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Police reported that the bicyclist was riding with one other man when the incident took place at around 9:08 p.m. According to information from officials, the collision took place on Wire Road near Otis Allen Road.
The bicyclist was struck by a Ford Mustang driven by a 17-year-old female from Dade City, sources said. The mustang only struck one of the cyclists, who was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The other cyclist was identified as a 20-year-old man from Zephyrhills. He sustained no injuries in the accident. The Mustang’s driver was unhurt in the crash as well.
The names of those involved were not released. Police officers in Zephyrhills continue to investigate the details of the crash.
