Car Accidents in Florida
Florida is no stranger to serious motor vehicle accidents. On average, more than 1,000 crashes happen every day across the state, leading to thousands of serious injuries and hundreds of fatalities each month. Statewide efforts continue to focus on improving safety through better infrastructure, traffic law enforcement, and public awareness.
Let’s look at several injury types that are common in crashes like the one in Englewood:
- Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI): Even a mild concussion can have lasting effects. TBIs often result from sudden head impacts and can lead to memory loss, dizziness, or long-term cognitive challenges.
- Spinal Cord Injuries: The spine is highly vulnerable in high-impact crashes. Injuries can range from slipped discs to permanent paralysis, depending on the location and severity.
- Internal Organ Damage: Internal bleeding or damage to organs like the lungs, liver, or kidneys can be life-threatening and often isn’t visible right away. Immediate medical attention is crucial.
- Bone Fractures: Broken ribs, arms, legs, and hips are common. These injuries can require extensive healing time and, in some cases, surgical intervention and physical therapy.
- Facial Injuries and Scarring: When airbags deploy or shattered glass strikes the face, cuts, bruising, or long-term scarring may result, often requiring reconstructive treatment.
