Hudson, FL – Woman and Six Children Injured in Crash on US 19 and SR 52

Hudson, FL (June 26, 2025) – An accident unfolded late Wednesday morning when a crash at a busy Pasco County intersection led to the hospitalization of a woman and six children.

Around 11:30 a.m. on June 25, a 33-year-old woman from Hudson was driving a Nissan Cube northbound on U.S. Highway 19 with six children between the ages of five and nine. At the intersection with State Road 52, a 42-year-old Hudson man driving a Toyota Tacoma southbound attempted a left turn after the light turned green. During this maneuver, the Nissan reportedly entered the intersection against a red light, causing the two vehicles to collide.

The impact caused the Nissan to overturn, ejecting the woman and children from the vehicle. All seven occupants of the Nissan were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The Toyota driver sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital transport. Portions of U.S. Highway 19 were temporarily closed for nearly two hours while crews managed the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.

Car Accidents in Florida

Hudson, FL - Woman and Six Children Injured in Crash on US 19 and SR 52Car accidents in Florida occur frequently due to the state’s high population and busy roadways. In 2023, over 390,000 crashes were reported across the state, leading to more than 250,000 injuries. These accidents stem from a variety of factors, including distracted driving and red-light violations.

Understanding what steps to take after a crash is key. Here are a few crucial reminders:

  • Common Causes of Multi-Vehicle Collisions: Intersections like the one at U.S. 19 and State Road 52 are hot spots for crashes, often caused by misjudging lights or turns. Running red lights remains a significant contributor to multi-vehicle collisions.
  • The Role of Child Passenger Safety: Accidents involving children raise serious concerns about car seat use and seat belt compliance. Ensuring every child is securely restrained can reduce the severity of injuries.
  • Importance of Emergency Response: Quick transport to medical facilities can make a critical difference. Emergency responders play a pivotal role in stabilizing crash victims on-site.
  • Vehicle Rollovers and Ejection Risks: Rollover accidents pose a high risk for ejection, especially if seat belts are not used properly. This makes it even more vital to secure all occupants before driving.
  • Traffic Disruptions After a Crash: Accidents on major roadways often lead to significant delays. Drivers need to remain alert and patient when navigating around these scenes.
