Lakeland, FL (August 9, 2024) – Local news sources confirmed that two people have died as a result of a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Wednesday evening in Lakeland. The Lakeland Police Department was called to the scene of the accident at around 10:50 p.m. on August 7.

Local news sources state that a white Toyota Yaris was traveling southbound on South Florida Avenue during the evening hours. For reasons unknown, the vehicle struck two pedestrians near the intersection of Imperial Boulevard. The pedestrians were attempting to cross the roadway in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrians, identified as a 46-year-old and a 54-year-old, were both pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities later identified them as Ronald Jeanbaptiste and Yanique Pierre, who were both from Massachusetts. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
