Lakeland, FL (August 4, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the late Lakeland area claimed one man’s life. The collision occurred on Thursday, August 1, at around 320 p.m.

Official reports indicate that 40-year-old Gary Carmean was driving a Toyota Camry East on the new Tampa Highway. As the vehicle proceeded forward, it collided with a semi-truck tractor-trailer near County Line Road. The incident prompted the closure of the roadway between County Line Road and Polk Highway. Carmean was rushed to Lakeland Regional Hospital for emergency care. Authorities confirmed that he died after arriving. The driver of the semi-truck was treated for injuries. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
